Pocket-Lint is reporting that Twitter was hacked by a group called “Iranian Cyber Army” on Dec. 17 at 10pm PST.
The group redirected Twitter's DNS to a different site.
The Twitter blog reports the following:
As we tweeted a bit ago, Twitter’s DNS records were temporarily compromised tonight but have now been fixed. As some noticed, Twitter.com was redirected for a while but API and platform applications were working. We will update with more information and details once we’ve investigated more fully.Twitter was used by supporters of government reform in Iran during the recent Iranian elections and riots.
